Directions : From Kemplay roundabout take the A6 towards Shap, travel 1 mile, turn left for Cliburn, from this junction travel the distances for each parking place shown below:

P1 travel 4 miles to crossroads in Cliburn, turn right and travel 0.35 miles over Cliburn bridge and park on grass verge on the right.

P2 travel 3.3 miles, turn right for Great Strickland, travel 0.33 miles and park on verge on the left just before the bridge.

P3 travel 2.2 miles, turn right for Lowther and travel 0.53 miles, , turn left for Melkinthorpe and travel 0.28 miles, on your right you will see a dirt track which takes you down to the ford that crosses the river, park in the field just across the river. This is a concrete ford and is easily crossed in low water, however the association cannot accept any responsibility in relation to the use of the ford and any such use is at ones own risk.
