Small stream fishing The Association also caters for the small water enthusiast with approximately 17.5 miles of fishing on Troutbeck, Briggle Beck, Dacre Beck, and the rivers, Leith, Lyvennet and Petteril.
These small rivers are, in general quite slow flowing, very clear and shallow which make the truly wild trout that they contain very easily spooked on occasions - stealth and patience are the keys to success.
Some stretches are heavily tree-lined and bankside vegetation can be a problem, particularly in the summer months making access difficult, but this adds to the challenge on small waters like this and is part of the attraction for the enthusiast.
